Wild Zone 16 is a late-game Wild Zone in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, located at Bleu Plaza in Lumiose City’s Bleu District. It becomes accessible after the player reaches Rank C in the Z-A Royale, with ordinary wild Pokémon generally around level 40–43. Where Is Wild Zone 16 in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

Wild Zone 16 is located at Bleu Plaza in the Bleu District of Lumiose City.

The plaza sits in the southwestern portion of Lumiose City and is close to the Rust Syndicate Office. Unlike some larger Wild Zones, this area is relatively compact, so most of its important encounter locations can be checked quickly. Its layout includes cobbled paths, grassy sections, a central monument, and a fountain area where several time-dependent Pokémon appear.

The game recommends approximately level 42 or higher for this zone. That recommendation applies mainly to ordinary encounters; the fixed Alpha Pokémon is considerably stronger.

How Do You Unlock Wild Zone 16?

Wild Zone 16 becomes available when the story progresses past the Rank C portion of the Z-A Royale.

More specifically, the relevant progression point is Main Mission 24, Reaching Rank C. After that stage of the story, Wild Zones 16 and 17 become available as the player moves into Main Mission 25. This means Wild Zone 16 is not an area that can simply be entered early by exploring the correct part of Lumiose City.

If the entrance is inaccessible, continue the main story until the Rank C requirement has been completed. There is no separate side mission required specifically to unlock the zone.

Which Pokémon Can You Find in Wild Zone 16?

Wild Zone 16 contains seven regular species plus a fixed Alpha Ampharos, with some encounters changing according to the time of day.

Pokémon Typical Level When Available Main Encounter Area
Falinks 41–42 Day and night Paths and outer areas
Flaaffy 40–41 Day and night Grassy area
Froakie 20–25 Day and night Central monument
Medicham 40–42 Day Near the fountain/pathways
Florges 42–43 Day Near the fountain
Barbaracle 41–43 Night Near the fountain
Starmie 41–43 Night Near the fountain
Alpha Ampharos 52–53 Day and night Grassy area near Flaaffy

Encounter information from multiple current databases agrees on the core species list and the day/night division.

Falinks

Falinks is one of the more straightforward Pokémon to locate in the zone and can be found around the paths and outer portions of Bleu Plaza. It normally appears around levels 41–42 and is available during both day and night.

Because Falinks is a Fighting type, Flying-, Psychic-, and Fairy-type attacks are effective against it. Players trying to catch rather than defeat it should avoid using an excessively powerful super-effective move.

Flaaffy

Flaaffy appears in the grassy section of Wild Zone 16 and normally ranges from level 40 to 41. It is available regardless of whether the player visits during the day or at night.

The nearby Alpha Ampharos makes this part of the zone especially recognizable. Both are Electric types, so Ground-type attacks provide an effective option when battling them.

Froakie

Froakie is unusual because it is considerably lower-level than most Pokémon in Wild Zone 16, appearing around levels 20–25. It can be found on top of the central stone monument and is available during both day and night.

Froakie can run away after detecting the player, so approaching carefully is more reliable than simply rushing toward it. If the encounter is lost, resetting the area’s spawns and making another approach is preferable to searching unrelated sections of the zone.

Medicham

Medicham is a daytime encounter generally found around level 40–42. Sources place it around the northern or northeastern portion of the plaza, near the fountain and pathways.

As a Fighting/Psychic Pokémon, Medicham is weak to Flying, Ghost, and Fairy attacks. It is also worth catching for players filling out their Pokédex or pursuing content involving Mega-capable Pokémon.

Florges

Florges is a daytime-only encounter near the fountain and normally appears around levels 42–43. Wild Zone 16 can produce Blue Flower and White Flower forms.

Its Fairy typing makes Poison and Steel attacks effective against it. Because it does not necessarily appear on every pass through the area, players may need to refresh the available encounters and check the fountain again.

Barbaracle

Barbaracle appears around the northern fountain at night, normally at levels 41–43. It will therefore be absent if the player searches its usual location during the daytime.

Its Rock/Water typing gives it a particularly significant weakness to Grass attacks. Electric, Fighting, and Ground attacks can also provide useful type advantages.

Starmie

Starmie is another nighttime encounter around the fountain and normally appears at levels 41–43. It shares the nighttime portion of the encounter pool with Barbaracle.

As a Water/Psychic type, Starmie is weak to Grass, Electric, Bug, Ghost, and Dark attacks. If it does not appear on the first check, players should make sure it is actually nighttime before refreshing the area’s encounters.

Where Is the Alpha Pokémon in Wild Zone 16?

The fixed Alpha Pokémon in Wild Zone 16 is Ampharos, found in the grassy section near the ordinary Flaaffy encounters.

Alpha Ampharos is approximately level 52–53, making it substantially stronger than the zone’s standard level 40–43 Pokémon. Players who can comfortably handle ordinary encounters should therefore not assume they are automatically prepared for the Alpha battle.

Ampharos is a pure Electric type and is weak to Ground-type attacks. Bringing a capable Ground-type Pokémon can make the encounter easier, although players intending to catch Ampharos need to balance dealing damage with avoiding an accidental knockout.

Does the Time of Day Matter in Wild Zone 16?

Time of day directly changes several Wild Zone 16 encounters, particularly around the fountain.

During the day, players can encounter Medicham and Florges. At night, the fountain area instead provides access to Barbaracle and Starmie. Falinks, Flaaffy, Froakie, and the fixed Alpha Ampharos are not restricted in the same way.

This makes at least two visits useful for anyone trying to complete the entire zone. Searching only during daylight or only at night will leave part of its encounter pool unavailable.

What Is the Fastest Way to Complete Wild Zone 16?

The most efficient approach is to divide Wild Zone 16 into permanent, daytime, and nighttime encounters rather than repeatedly searching the entire plaza.

A practical route is:

  1. Check the outer paths for Falinks. This handles one of the straightforward all-day encounters first.
  2. Search the grassy section for Flaaffy. Note the nearby Alpha Ampharos, but prepare separately before fighting it.
  3. Check the central monument for Froakie. Approach carefully because Froakie can flee after noticing the player.
  4. Visit the fountain during the day. Search for Medicham and Florges.
  5. Return to the fountain at night. Look for Barbaracle and Starmie.
  6. Finish with Alpha Ampharos. Prepare for a level 52–53 opponent rather than treating it like another ordinary encounter.

This route takes advantage of the zone’s compact layout while separating encounters according to their actual spawn requirements.

What Items Can You Find in Wild Zone 16?

Wild Zone 16 contains several useful pickups, including TM076, Poké Ball variants, and other collectible items.

Serebii’s area data lists TM076, along with items such as a Luxury Ball, Dusk Ball, Quick Ball, Rare Candy, Heal Ball, Big Pearl, and Ultra Ball. Some item positions can respawn, and the exact item obtained from a respawning location may vary.

A Moon Stone is also associated with the area after the relevant Starmie On High request. Players focused exclusively on catching Pokémon can therefore miss some of the zone’s useful resources if they leave immediately after completing its encounter list.

Why Is a Pokémon Missing From Its Spawn Location?

A missing Pokémon usually means its time requirement is not being met or the desired encounter did not appear in the current group of spawns.

First confirm whether the Pokémon is tied to day or night. Florges and Medicham should be searched for during the day, while Starmie and Barbaracle require nighttime.

For encounters that are not currently present, leaving and returning to refresh the zone can produce a new set of Pokémon. Froakie requires slightly different handling: because it occupies the central monument and can flee, the player’s approach to the encounter matters as much as finding the correct area.

Is Wild Zone 16 the Final Wild Zone?

No, Wild Zone 16 is not the final Wild Zone in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

The numbered sequence continues through Wild Zones 17, 18, 19, and 20. Wild Zones 16 and 17 become available around the Rank C stage, while later zones are tied to further Z-A Royale and main-story progression.

That distinction matters because Wild Zone 16’s relatively high encounter levels can make it feel like endgame territory. In practice, it is a late-game progression area rather than the conclusion of the Wild Zone system.

After completing it, players can continue into later Wild Zones or explore Mega Evolution-related Pokémon and other late-game encounters across Lumiose City.
